Wow, Speed Racer? Really?

Okay, everyone. If any of you have seen anime you know of the OLD show Speed Racer; and if you remember any thing about it it is the KING of campy. So you can imagine how I felt when I saw they are making a movie. A live action movie … yeah, my brain stopped for a second too. I’m not sure what to make of it. but I think you should have a look at the preview for yourself. If anything it will make you chuckle a little. Warning, still looks pretty campy. Oh yeah John Goodman is in it.

Evangelists, eat your heart out. Buddhists reach out too — in bars!

This article seems strangely appropriate for the time of year — don’t ask me why — short attention span and all.

Being a “western” country, we’re used to, in conventional culture, hearing about our local church going to outreach in other countries, and working to spread the word through local reach-outs, events, etc. It is an attempt at spreading the word without smacking you over the head with The Good Book too hard. I can very easily see the same thing happening in Islam and Judaism. But you don’t hear about Buddhists much.

It turns out that at least monks are trying such kinds of outreach. Well, perhaps not the same. This sounds like something out of Sister Act.

From the article:

After their first session on the stage, which lasts about 20 minutes, they sit down with the audience for a drink and a chat. One of the monks gets a bag of balloons out of his pocket and starts sculpting balloon flowers for some of the older ladies sitting around the room.

TV Squad: The truth on how Futurama’s Zoidberg got his name

Burnout looming. Brain too weak to write… article quote here!

The game is called Zoid and it was coded by Futurama co-creator, and previously ardent arcade gamer, David X. Cohen. You probably can’t recall the game because it never made it to mass market. […] Cohen’s game was rejected by the software company Broderbund, which was one of the hottest names for computer games at that time. Don’t you think the company is smacking itself in the collective head right now for missing this opportunity? They could have re-released Zoid under the name Zoid, Created by Futurama’s David X. Cohen and made a small mint. Dr. Zoidberg could have even made a cameo appearance in the game.
